As of 30 July, the Animal and Plant Health Agency’s National Bee Unit (NBU) has received further credible reports of YLH. To date there have been 82 sightings in 2026 resulting in the identification of 21 nests.
The nests confirmed this week are recorded in the following locations:
Kent
River (primary nest)
Wye College (primary nest)
Surrey
Farnham (secondary nest)
Sunbury (secondary nest)
Pignut Wood (secondary nest)
All nests have been destroyed except those at Wye, Kent; Pignut Wood and Farnham, Surrey, which are awaiting destruction.
The NBU are carrying out track and trace in locations across Hampshire, Surrey and Kent. Multiple sightings are being monitored by beekeepers and local Yellow-legged hornet teams.
