APHA YLAH update

The Animal and Plant Health Agency’s National Bee Unit (NBU) has received three further credible reports of Yellow-Legged Hornet (YLH) sightings last week.
On 4 July, a householder in Ramsgate, Kent reported an active nest in their shed. The Animal and Plant Health Agency will arrange for the nest to be destroyed.
On 5 July, a beekeeper reported a hornet in Spelthorne, nr Sunbury-on-Thames, Surrey. The area will be monitored to identify any further activity and help locate a potential nest.
On 9 July, a householder in Ashford, Kent reported a nest in a bird box in their garden. The Animal and Plant Health Agency will arrange for the nest to be destroyed.
