NBU YLH Update

The Animal and Plant Health Agency’s National Bee Unit (NBU) has received three further credible reports of Yellow-Legged Hornet (YLH) sightings this week.
A sighting of a hornet associated with a bumblebee nest in a bird box was reported in Tunbridge Wells, Kent on 29 May by a member of the public. The nest was destroyed and two hornets were recovered dead. The reporter plans to investigate the contents of the bird box in more detail. The NBU will contact the local YLAHT coordinator.
A householder reported a hornet in Ashford, Kent on 31 May. The hornet was captured and killed.
A householder reported a hornet in Brighton and Hove, East Sussex on 1 June. The hornet escaped alive. The NBU will contact the local YLAHT coordinator.
