A credible report of a single Yellow-legged hornet sighted in Mordon, County Durham on 28 May 2025. The insect was observed flying from a polytunnel, and a photo has been attached by the reporting member of the public.
This represents a notable northerly sighting, with serious implications for Yorkshire. Given its proximity to our region, this reinforces the need for heightened vigilance, especially in areas with soft fruit farms, garden centres, allotments, and apiaries.
